After receiving a large number of questions concerning the official OSMTH-SMOTJ blazer badge - We can confirm that any variant not carrying the Latin name of our Order should be considered a potential bogus copy. Another means to identify the forgeries, is the type of crown, which should not be the Royal Crown of Great Britain. To clarify, bona fide member Knights and Dames wearing such a badge, we have published the Official blazer badge authorized by The Grand Secretariat with the official description taken from the 1705 Constitution.
The public should beware any group that solicits or actively recruits for membership over the internet as the legitimate OSMTH-SMOTJ Knights Templar do not do so.
Beware of Knights Templar organizations which perform initiations while candidates are not physically present in a legitimate Church or place of worship.
"Initiation by Proxy" and "Membership by Payment" are extremely dubious and not recognised by the OSMTH.While not explicitly claiming legitimacy, certain Knights Templar groups engaging in the aforementioned dubious initiatic practices have also been creating the misleading impression over the Internet that they possess initiatic or chartered affiliation through the Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani, OSMTH-SMOTJ charity.
Let the public be aware that our legitimate Priories and Commanderies of genuine lineal affiliations everywhere, condemn the practices of "initiation by proxy" as being ineffective, if not even fraudulent.
Beware of Knights Templar organisations that utilise the OSMTH charity identity without legitimate initiatic affiliations.
Beware of Knights Temlar Organisations claiming association or recognition of the Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani, OSMTH-SMOTJ charity.
Beware of any Organisation that claims to be associated with our OSMTH charity.
Check any Knights Templar Organisation that claims any OSMTH connection to confirm that they are legally registered and are also further registered with the Charities Commission of England and Wales, Scotland or local territory.
Any website claiming association or links of any nature to Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani, OSMTH-SMOTJ Knights Templar Order, must be authorised in writing and publish a notice confirming such official acceptance and regularisation through the Magistral Grand Secretariat.
